1. SAP Digital Transformation Methodology


SAP has a unique methodology of digital transformation, which mainly focuses on three questions: Why should we make digital transformation? What can digital transformation bring? How to do digital transformation? Implemented in a unified process in each project:

1. Find pain points and causes from the current situation, and formulate corresponding business objectives.
2. Select the appropriate information products and use the appropriate functions within the products to match the business requirements.
3. Make a preliminary digital transformation structure, business structure, data structure, application structure and technical structure.
4. It is necessary to prioritize the needs of enterprises and gradually realize them.
5. According to the priority, specify the road map and strategic deployment of enterprise digital transformation, and gradually conquer it.
6. Select the appropriate implementation path for each product in the roadmap.

02. How to choose the implementation of S/4HANA

Combining the results of analyzing why digital transformation is necessary in the methodology of digital transformation;
1. To what extent does the existing business system meet the needs of the business?
2. Do you want to protect the historical IT investment?
The implementation method also affects the formulation of the road map for digital transformation.
-Upgrade and transformation means that enterprises will quickly upgrade the digital platform through technical means so as to meet the business needs in time.
-The new implementation is to abandon the old technology platform and historical burden, and realize as many technical capabilities as possible at one time on the S/4 platform to meet business needs.

03. How to help enterprises go to the cloud?


Methods The overall implementation methods are divided into the following two types:

1. Business-oriented re-implementation requires users to participate in the whole process of the project, from early demand investigation to blueprint formulation to functional specification and various tests.
2. Upgrade (S/4 Conversion) is a technology-oriented technology upgrade, which directly converts the original ERP system into S/4, keeping the functions and data of the original system as much as possible.

04. Main work involved in S/4 HANA upgrade and transformation

• Preparation stage: compare the existing ERP system with S/4 system through readiness inspection and investigation, and find out the change points in time.
• Pre-conversion stage: data archiving and self-developed code management cleaning to reduce data volume and downtime, CVI adjustment and data consistency check.
• Conversion stage: system upgrade, data relocation and logistics data conversion. The downtime is related to the amount of data.
• Post-conversion stage: self-developed code adjustment, financial data conversion and post-processing of each module upgrade.

The whole stage needs to be repeated several times to ensure the complete upgrade of the system.

5. Self-developed code adjustment related process

In the process of migration, the self-developed code needs to be adjusted for the following reasons:
The first category: code unavailability due to database replacement.
Category II: The standard code has changed due to the system upgrade.
The third category: due to the change of S4 simplification, the original self-developed standard object has changed due to the simplification of table structure, and it needs to be adjusted properly before it can be used.
The fourth category: it belongs to the adjustment of good to have. Many original programs that are being calculated on the application server can sink into HANA database for calculation through CDS View and other technologies, thus greatly improving the performance.
For these four types of self-developed code adjustments caused by upgrading to S/4HANA, SAP provides tools to help users simplify their workload and reduce cumbersome operations.

06.Compatibility View & CDS View

• The table streamlined by S4HANA uses the Compatibility View of the same name to realize backwards compatibility.
• Reduce the workload of system conversion and upgrading.
• It is a transitional scheme, which can be optimized step by step in the long run, so that Z program can directly access the optimized bottom table.

To reduce the workload caused by the upgrade and conversion, SAP put forward the concept of Compatibility View. For example, the table names entered in SE11 and SE16 will be automatically redirected to the underlying standardized CDS View.
